Feng-Biao Guo

Feng-Biao Guo was born in October 1979. He finished his doctorial study in TianJin University in February 2006. Now he is an associate professor and Ph.D. supervisor of Bioinformatics at UESTC (University of Electronic Science and Technology of China). He has been engaged in the study of bioinformatics since 2001. His research interests currently focus on computational and evolutionary genomics of microbes. Feng-Biao Guo has published over 20 peer-reviewed papers in international journals. Up to now, his papers have been cited over 200 times. One of his first-authored papers has been recommended by Janet Thornton, the director of European bioinformatics institute, as one of the ‘Faculty of 1000’ paper. ZCURVE 1.0, which is one of the softwares developed by him, has been used in about 100 laboratories or institutes all over the world. This software was once utilized in researches published in top journals such as Cell, Nature Methods, Plos Biology and PNAS et al. Dr. Guo is member of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). He often serves as reviewer for international journals such as Journal of Theoretical Biology, Biosystems, Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics. He also reviews papers for international conferences, for example ICIC (International Conference on Intelligent Computing). He was once awarded 3 academic prizes by different institutes in China. Very recently, he was chosen as one of the 7 young teachers of UESTC with the best academic records. He has been the principal investigator of two projects funded by Ministry of Education and SiChuan province of China. Now he is in charge of two projects funded by NSFC.
